REDACTED

/rɪˈdakt/ (verb) - to censor or obscure (part of a text) for legal or security purposes

'Redacted' is a series in which the artist has glitched her portraits, consisting of studio lighting and available lighting from her subject's mobile phones, by editing the image codes by inputting quotes from George Orwell's novel '1984'.

In the time of Trump's presidency, words such as 'post-truth' have become increasingly used and seen in the media, pushing '1984' to the forefront of literature during this time, due to its ideas surrounding the thought police, Big Brother and double-think. By choosing specific quotes that link to the current political climate, the artist explores how civilians are constantly monitored and fed false information by those in positions of power who we can supposedly trust.
